Used Treadmills - A Gamble Or A Safe Bet?

Buying used treadmills - is that a safe option? Could you really buy an old treadmill?

The answer is - it all depends what you are after. There are different types of pre-owned treadmills out there, and depending on what you really like to buy, it could be an interesting option to explore:

Refurbished treadmills (mostly club/commercial). Could be an excellent way to buy a treadmill of a quality you could never afford otherwise. These remanufactured (or refurbished) treadmills can still be quite expensive, but they are significantly cheaper than their new equivalents. For the advanced runner this is an interesting option. Since they are remanufactured by professionals the quality is often no problem. You buy them from established fitness companies.

Private sale. To buy a used treadmill privately from a classifieds ad, ebay or similar, could be a great bargain, but it could also cause problems. It is difficult to know in advance. It is more likely to be a good idea with more advanced models. So, it could be a bargain, but get prepared for some maintenance costs. Do shop around though. It is interesting to see what you may find. Nope, no used treadmills for me - take me back to cheap treadmills.
