Premium Treadmill Review by Runners World

Runners World is a magazine published by Rodale, claimed to be "The World's Leading Running Brand" with a US circulation of 500,000 and international editions in a handful other countries around the world. The magazine is aimed mainly at serious runners, and contains information on training, fitness, nutrition, equipment and much more.

In my opinion it is the best magazine available for people who enjoy a running lifestyle, and especially for those who are devoted runners aiming at events such as major marathons. But don't get put off. A focused beginner will also enjoy the serious approach of Runner's World.

Runners World Treadmill Review

A treadmill review is conducted in Runner's World every three years. The choice of treadmills reflects the target group of the magazine. There is a clear focus on the higher end of the market. According to Runner's World a dedicated runner should really only look at a treadmill over $2000.

Runner's World's testers rated a handful different parameters - cushioning, stability, controls and display, as well as giving a total overall score. Separately Runners World made another table listing measured sound and acceleration. This is not included in their overall scoring, but provided in a separate list.

Runners World - The Verdict

Runners World present one Editors' Choice and one Best Buy. The Editor's Choice is the treadmill with the highest overall scoring, while the best buy factor in the price as well to point out a good value treadmill.

Editor's choice is True 540 HRC. The price quoted by Runner's World is $3795, which does not really make it accessible for everyone.

Best Buy is PaceMaster Pro Elite. Priced at $2200 (Runners World) it is still steep for many budgets, but very good value according to Runners World.
