Well, exercise equipment are like most other products - basically you get what you pay for. This treadmill buying guide may help you to know what to look for.


Those of you who think of buying cheap treadmills , expect shorter durability and possibly higher running costs. If you flesh out on an expensive treadmill you will in most cases get an appliance that will last you longer.

Don't forget that health and fitness are long term investments, so it would make sense if your sports equipment also lasts long... So when buying a treadmill, use your common sense and balance your needs against your budget, but don't go too cheap.

Get A Treadmill That Suits YOU

The most important piece of treadmill buying advice is: Buy what you need for your body and your exercise pattern. And again - try not to be too cheap - it may cost you more in the long run.

A heavy treadmill user (in both senses of the word - weight and frequence) needs a heavier, sturdier (and more expensive) piece of equipment , while a lightweight occasional runner can manage with a smaller, lighter model .

Similarly, if you are tall with long legs and a long stride, you need a large belt. So, body size and treadmill size are certainly related.

Will you be running or walking? Walking stresses the equipment less than running. But don't forget that as you get more and more fit, walkers may become runners... So, if you are serious about your exercise, buy quality that lasts.
